Detroit Tigers Game 2 Betting Preview: 

The Detroit Tigers will promote their 26-year old rookie right hander and Triple A pitcher Garrett Hill to take the mound for this Game 2. He had a terrible start on July 9th against the Chicago White Sox.

In just 5 innings he managed to give up 6 hits and 6 earned runs while only striking out one batter. He’ll look to have a bounce back performance, but that type of game will really mess up a rookies mindset. Remember that the Tigers have the worst road record in the entire league this season at 17 games below the five hundred mark.

Also, I know betting trends only play a very small factor when it comes to betting the baseball game, but one trend really stuck out to me. That trend was that the Detroit Tigers are 1-11 in their last 12 games as a road underdog when the price is between +110 thru +150.

Oakland Athletics Game 2 Betting Preview: 

Now for the Oakland Athletics will have their right hander, Frankie Montas get the start.

In his 17 starts this season, he has a terrible 3-9 record, but only a 3.26 ERA and 100 strikeouts. He’s faced Detroit 8 times total in his career and has a 4-3 overall record with an ERA of 5.12.

I’m a fan of Montas, but it’s tough for me to lay that big -165 juice to back him. First, it’s been 18 days since he last pitched. Second, in that last start July 3rd against the Mariners, he was pulled after throwing just 13 pitches due to inflammation in his right shoulder inflation.

It’ll be very interesting to see how he fairs in his next few starts, because the trade deadline is approach and he could really raise his trade value to be traded to a contender.

The Athletics are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series and the under is 6-1 in Oakland’s last 7 home games.
