UCF vs Louisville Picks and Predictions – College Football Week 3 (Friday, Sept 17)

UCF Golden Knights vs Louisville Cardinals picks, predictions, and game preview for Friday, September 17, 2021.

UCF vs Louisville odds

The College Football betting lines for this Week 3 game have the UCF Golden Knights currently listed as a -6.5 point favorite against the spread and -235 on the money line. The latest over/under has the number at 67.5 total points.

The public is currently betting 63% of their money on the Golden Knights as the road favorite.

UCF Golden Knights betting preview

UCF comes into this game a perfect 2-0, but they’ll have to travel to Louisville to face this hungry Cardinals team.

The Golden Knights offense under head coach Gus Milzon continues to be on fire with Quarterback Dillon Gabriel leading the way. He’s already put up 630 passing yards and 6 touchdowns in his first two games and should be able to put up at least 2 or 3 in this one.

The key for them winning this matchup will be their rush attack that’s led by Gabriel and senior running back Isaiah Bowser.

They’re already averaging 273 rushing yards per game and if they’re able to keep those numbers up in this one, then most likely they’ll be able to cover that 6.5 point spread.

On the defensive end, Junior defensive lineman Tre’mon Morris-Brash has returned to the team after his DUI arrest in two weeks ago. This is great news for the Golden Knights, because they’ll need any additional help to try to stop Louisville’s mobile quarterback, Malik Cunningham.

In 2020, the Golden Knights scored an average of 42.2 points per game against FBS schools and in this 2021 season so far they’re averaging 36 points per game.

Their defense in 2020, gave up an average of 33.2 points per game and it looks like they are on that same trajectory this season already giving up an average of 31 points per game.

UCF is 4-10 straight up in their last 14 games against an opponent in the ACC and the total has gone over in 6 of Central Florida’s last 7 games played in September.

Louisiana-Lafayette is 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 games when playing as the favorite and the total has gone under in 5 of the Ragin Cajuns last 5 games at home.

Louisville Cardinals betting preview

Louisville comes into this game 1-1 overall after getting the 30-3 week 2 win against Eastern Kentucky. The huge red flag is that they were only able to score 30 points in that game and now they’ll need to keep up with UCF’s offense.

The Cardinals will need to put up at least 30 points to be able cover the spread and maybe even win the game outright. Cunningham struggled in Week 1 in the loss to Ole Miss, but I truly believe that he’ll have a big performance in this game.

Louisville last season against FBS schools had the 77th best offense in the nation that put up an average of 29.5 points per game and had an above average defense that gave up an average of 26.6 point per game. This season so far it’s really tough to gauge how well both sides of the ball have done and this game should really showcase more of their offensive and defensive talents.

Louisville is 4-1 straight up in their last 5 games at home and the total has gone over in 12 of the Cardinals last 18 games
